Dot Young
Dot Young is a Scottish artist living and working in London, with her studio based in Deptford. She has a BA in Fine Art Sculpture and an MA in Creative Media Arts.
She enjoys historical research and exploring narratives though sculptural installation. Her practice currently explores the work of 19th century French chef Urbain Dubois, where she considers the resonances his work has with her own interest in architectural form, geometry, materials and traditional sculptural practices.

She joined Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, as a lecturer and course leader in BA Theatre Practice in 2007. She has several years of teaching experience at undergraduate level, adult education and in the community in the UK and internationally.
She has taught portrait sculpture, figurative sculpture and as a freelance practitioner in the arts she has worked extensively both here in the UK and globally, undertaking projects and running creative workshops with the local community in The Caucasus in Russia, Las Palmas, Madrid and Caceres in Spain and Abu Dhabi, Sharjah & Dubai. She has worked in the Tengenege Shona Sculpture Village in Zimbabwe and with sculptors bronze casting in Harare, Zimbabwe & South Africa, as well as travelling in Namibia, Mozambique, Sri Lanka, India, Mexico, and Europe including the Sami area of Northern Scandinavia researching local arts and crafts.
She also currently works with AFRIL, Action for Refugees in Lewisham, engaging in arts workshops and community events.
